The family sports day at Uppingham Town cricket club went down a treat. We were there to film the whole day and if you didn’t know… where were you hiding! This event was great for everyone involved. There were plenty of people in attendance including the Rutland Barbarians and a few sporting celebrities!
Throughout the day there was an abundance of activities to try out. Kids tried out kickboxing, archery, rugby, golf and many more sports. The atmosphere was wonderful despite the windy weather.
Interserve sponsored the local schools and clubs who took part in an Under 9’s cricket tournament.
As the main match drew nearer we managed to speak to guest manager Barry Fry who was very determined for the celebrities to ensure they did not finish with anything other than a win! We also grabbed Oliver Phelps for a quick chat as he was one of the few who had no sporting background at all, unless Quidditch counts?
Well, as promised in our last blog, which is a more thorough run through of the day (check it out, you’ll love it!), we can now reveal the result of the match! For the second time, the Lord Taverner’s tied with UTCC representatives the Rutland Barbarians!
Thanks Notts Sport as well for providing us with drone footage from the day which features in the video.
The UTCC held this family sports day with the intention of gathering interest in the cricket club and rallying the community together to help the club. They need volunteers for the club, the bar, scoring and much more. It’s a unique opportunity to take part in a special community club and experience on the whole.
The website has all the information you could need about the club and what they do. You can also contact Charlie, Jon, Patrick or Adi if you would like to get involved!
The club held this great event in order to raise money for the Lord’s Taverners charity and managed to raise a total of…. *drumroll*
Well done to every single person who went along, took part, donated and enjoyed the day! We certainly had fun!
Until next time…
